Beloved Saviour, our Lord! You see us wandering in this miserable vale of tears, hear our lament, our weeping and our pleas for mercy on our miserable fate. There is so much evil around that overwhelms us. Shepherds betrayed, churches turned into judas’ seats.
Give us faith, such a little bit that we may persevere. Alone among men we climb with You beneath the cross. You see, Saviour of our souls, how we fall, not three times but perhaps a thousand. We are so weak and inept, yet step by step, laboriously and persistently we carry our crosses, sometimes small sometimes large, but always heavy. After all, you know our human nature, Lord God; the hardest to bear are our own sins. We acknowledge them all and ask:
Forgive us wretched worms our transgressions, forgive the wounds we inflict on You, for every sin, even the smallest one of ours, means the shedding of Your Most Precious Blood. We are not worthy of even one glance from You, so we turn to Your Beloved Mother and beg: lead us to the Son by the shortest path, for who knows the Son better than the Mother.
Assist us in the struggle for our souls, may they be purified of self-love, may they know the true love that comes from Thee Lord. May we know the freedom of conscience and truth that no man can find without Thee, Sweetest Saviour.
We stand by You at the foot of the Cross and desire that our hearts and souls may be washed by Your Most Precious Blood of Redemption.
We beg you God, do not abandon us in these moments of trial. Take away evil thoughts, protect us from the attacks of the evil one.
Amen
